PM Chromebook Scheme Record Not Found? Causes and Fixes

You opened the IBCC portal, picked your board, typed your number — and got the message every student dreads: record not found. Take a breath. In most cases this is a small input problem, not a verdict on your eligibility. The portal can only find you if what you type matches exactly what your board sent, and there are a handful of very common ways that match fails. Work through the fixes below in order. If you have not read the main walkthrough yet, the application guide on our homepage shows where this step sits in the full process.

Why records go missing

1. You picked the wrong board

The portal searches only the list of the board you select. If you appeared under one board but choose another — easy to do when boards have similar names, or when a student moved schools — your record simply is not in the file being searched. Fix: go back, and select the board that actually conducted your Annual Examinations 2026, the one printed on your result card.

2. Dashes or spaces in your number

The portal wants numbers only. A CNIC typed as 35202-1234567-1 will fail, even though it is "correct". Same story with spaces copied from a document. Fix: retype the number as one unbroken string of digits, no dashes, no spaces, nothing else.

3. You searched with the wrong ID

You can search with your CNIC or B-Form number, your roll number, or your registration number — and one can fail while another works, if a digit was recorded differently somewhere along the line. Fix: if the CNIC/B-Form search fails, try the roll number from your result card, then the registration number. Students are often found on the second attempt with a different identifier.

4. Your date of birth does not match board records

The date of birth check is strict. If the date in your board's data differs from your B-Form — a transposed day and month, a typo made at school registration years ago — the portal treats you as a different person. Fix: try the date exactly as it appears in your board/school record. If neither version works, this has to be corrected through your school and board, because the portal data comes from them.

5. Your board has not uploaded its list yet — or your name is not on it

Boards send their top-performer lists to IBCC, and lists move in batches. Your friends from another board may be findable days before your board's list lands. And, honestly, there is one harder possibility: only students on the board's top-performer list are in the system at all. If your marks did not make your board's list, the portal will never find your record no matter what you type. Fix: wait a few days and try again; then check with your school whether your name was forwarded. Your school can confirm against the list it received, and the board's complaint committees exist for exactly this kind of case.

A calm troubleshooting order

  1. Recheck your board selection.
  2. Retype your number with digits only.
  3. Try your roll number, then your registration number.
  4. Try the date of birth from your board record.
  5. Retry after a few days, in case the list is still uploading.
  6. Ask your school to check its forwarded list, then contact the board if needed.

One warning while you troubleshoot: do not keep guessing random number combinations, and do not let anyone "fix it" for a fee. Applying is free — see the scam warnings on our disclaimer page. And never type your CNIC or B-Form into look-alike sites that promise to check your record for you; the only checking tool is the official portal itself, as explained in our about page.

If your record does appear on the retry, slow down. You get one application and it cannot be edited, so check every detail on screen before you upload your documents and submit. The homepage guide's steps four to six — check, upload, save your slip — are written for exactly that moment.

One more thing worth checking

Before you assume the worst, borrow a friend's phone or a different browser and try once more. Portals under heavy load sometimes return a "not found" result when the system is simply overwhelmed, especially in the first days after launch when thousands of students search at once. An early morning or late evening attempt, on a stable connection, avoids most of those false alarms. If the same search works on the second device, your record was fine all along — proceed with the application straight away, and take the document preparation seriously so the rest of your one application goes smoothly.
